Thankfully, treatments exist to replace hormones and restore your vitality. The first step to determine whether you would benefit from hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is to check the relevant biomarkers with a simple blood test.
When to get checked
Symptoms of hormone imbalance in women might include hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and decreased sexual desire. In men, a deficiency in sex hormones can lead to fatigue, muscle loss, reduced libido, hair loss and mood changes. Both sexes can experience weight gain and sleep issues.

Key Female Hormones
Hormone imbalances in women may be caused by, among other things, thyroid issues, ovarian function and menopause. The female hormone test must occur on Day 3 of your menstrual cycle (the third day of blood flow) to ensure accurate results. It is important no hormonal contraceptives are being taken at the time of testing.

Key Male Hormones
As many as one in four men suffer from low testosterone and healthy sperm counts have dropped 50% in the last 40 years. The key male hormones are vital for maintaining a healthy sex drive, muscle strength and mass, red blood cell production and healthy bone density. The test should be performed in the morning, before 10 A.M.

Your test results will be provided to you directly by the Scrubs care team within 1-2 days. If your hormone levels and symptoms indicate you may be eligible for hormone replacement therapy, we will provide you with options.
