How it works
We help you optimize your homones with effective treatment delivered to your doorstep.
Step 1:
Intake
Fill out a short online survey about your health history. A Scrubs provider will review your responses and create a a personalized requisition for lab work to test hormones and other relevant biomarkers.
Step 2:
Diagnosis
Have a lab test in your home or office in Calgary, or take the lab requisition to an APL collection centre anywhere in Alberta. If you have recently had lab work, and the results can be viewed, you may be able to skip this step.
Step 3:
Treatment
Your provider will go over your results with you and determine your eligibility for treatment. If you proceed with a program, you’ll receive a personalized treatment plan with a prescription best suited to your biology.

Scrubs-affiliated providers are registered to provide services throughout Alberta. Currently, mobile lab service is available in Calgary and area. A travel surcharge based on distance is added for service to Okotoks, Cochrane, Canmore, Banff and other rural areas. Prescription delivery is free.

The cost of intake and diagnosis is just $99. After that, if you decide to proceed with treatment and ongoing support, the cost is $129 per month. The medication will be billed separately and the cost to you will vary based on the exact prescription and your insurance coverage. Typically, employer health spending accounts cover the cost of medication and monthly fees.

The fees cover your consult, personalized treatment plan, monthly titration of your dose and prescription renewals, prescription delivery to your door and consults with a care provider, which could include a video consult or direct messaging.

Hormone therapy differs for men and women and optimal dosing can vary considerably from one person to the next. Our expert providers will determine the best treatment for you based on your biology and other factors.

Your provider will work closely with you to find the optimal dose and type of medication to maximize benefits and minimize side effects. This process is known as titration. You will be prescribed a conservative dose to get you started. After four weeks your Scrubs provider will consult with you to see how things are going and potentially adjust your dose. This process will continue until you both believe the medication is working well for you.

Hormones therapy can take many forms, including creams, pellets and injections. Self-injection is not for everyone, but our care providers will show you how it’s done virtually if you need help. If you live in Calgary or Edmonton, you can also have a Scrubs nurse deliver the shot at your home or office, for an extra charge.

Yes! Most health spending accounts cover some or all of the costs associated with consultations, lab tests and prescriptions. Scrubs is a private company, so our consults are not yet covered by provincial health insurance. Certain services may also be eligible under other employee benefit and Blue Cross plans. Contact your benefits provider to check your coverage. The Scrubs care team will happily help you explore options for coverage.
