The way you like it
PrEP is short for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis. It’s a pill that reduces your risk of acquiring HIV by up to 99%. Some online providers claim PrEP treatment has zero cost, but that’s true only if you ignore the value of your time and privacy.
That’s because getting PrEP means regular bloodwork—at the beginning, and then quarterly thereafter—which means a lot of annoying trips to the public lab. At Scrubs, we believe time is valuable. That’s why we make STI testing easy, by bringing the lab to you.
How it works
We provide white-glove treatment, with testing on your terms, and medication delivered to your doorstep.
Step 1:
Intake
Complete a short online assessment. A Scrubs provider will review your responses. At checkout, you’ll schedule initial bloodwork at a location of your choosing. No need to visit with a doctor first.
Step 2:
Testing
Have a lab test in your home, office or other location in Calgary. Same-day and next-day service is available. We get the results in 2-3 days, typically, and will follow up with you directly by telephone.
Step 3:
Treatment
Your provider will go over your results with you and determine your eligibility for treatment. If you proceed with a program, you’ll get a prescription and the pills will be delivered discretely to your door.
Step 4:
Support
Your subscription includes prescription deliveries and ongoing testing at home every three months, which is a requirement for anyone taking PrEP. No need to visit a lab. We provide service on your terms.

Scrubs-affiliated providers are registered to provide services throughout Alberta. Currently, mobile lab service is available in Calgary and area. A travel surcharge based on distance is added for service to Okotoks, Cochrane, Canmore, Banff and other rural areas. Prescription delivery is free.

Most health spending accounts cover some or all of the costs associated with consultations, mobile lab tests and prescriptions. Scrubs is a private company, so our consults are not yet covered by provincial health insurance. Certain services may also be eligible under other employee benefit and Blue Cross plans. Contact your benefits provider to check your coverage. The Scrubs care team will happily help you explore options for coverage.
